Eastern Area Prehospital Services, Inc. (EAPS) was founded in 1995 as a result of the mergers of Swissvale EMS and Wilkinsburg EMS. In 1996 Wilmerding EMS joined EAPS and then in 2001 Turtle Creek Rescue #2 became the final EMS Service to become a part of the EAPS family.

Each of these services were rich in EMS history and traditions. Founded in 1967, Turtle Creek Rescue #2 was one of the first EMS services in the country! From our humble beginnings, EAPS has grown to become one of the top emergency medical services in Allegheny county.

Located in the eastern suburbs of Allegheny county, EAPS provides emergency medical care to the residents of Edgewood, Swissvale, Turtle Creek, Wall, Wilkinsburg, and Wilmerding. Additionally, we offer non-emergency transportation to the residents of these communities as well as to several healthcare facilities located nearby.

EAPS is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by highly trained EMT's and paramedics. Our fleet includes 6 advanced life support ambulances and one wheelchair van to serve our residents.

EAPS is a non-profit organization that relies on monies from third party billing, subscriptions, donations and fund raising.
